Red Diamond Films is proud to announce production of a documentary about the history of Historic Fort Wayne, Detroit. This project is being shot in partnership with the Historic Fort Wayne Coalition (HFWC). The HFWC is a 501c3, non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of the Fort and education of the public about its role in Michigan and American history.
Production began in June with the interview of James Conway. Besides being the Fort’s manager, Mr. Conway is a noted historian of the site and co-author of the book “Detroit’s Historic Fort Wayne.” We were thrilled to do the first part of his interview in the restored Spanish American War Guard House, a structure he had a large role in restoring.
The documentary will tell the story of Historic Fort Wayne and the land is sits on from the time of the first settlers, through the settling of Detroit, to America’s Independence and early years when the Fort was built. Then it will follow the Fort’s military history from the American Civil War to the Vietnam conflict and finish with the Fort’s current role as a City of Detroit park and historic site. The documentary is scheduled to be released in June 2015.
